Capital Planning
LHINs and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) work together to oversee a number of health capital programs including general capital initiatives, own funds capital projects, Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund (HIRF) and Post Construction Operating Plan (PCOP) funding.
The bulletins below reflect the work of the MOHLTC/LHIN Capital Working Group that has been established to facilitate collaboration and partnership as the LHINs and the MOHLTC review health service provider capital projects in these programs.

Vaughan Hospital Services Planning
In fall 2008, the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care awarded a capital planning grant to the Central LHIN to develop a Master Program for Hospital Services in Vaughan. This was the first time that a local health integration network has been asked to conduct this type of health service planning.
Over the summer of 2009, under the guidance of a Central LHIN Stakeholder Liaison Group, many of our health service providers and other stakeholders engaged with us regarding the planning for hospital services in Vaughan.
During that same time, York Central Hospital and Vaughan Health Care Foundation agreed to work more closely together, moving to restructure the York Central Hospital to include more proportional Vaughan representation and to enhance their collaborative efforts to build service capacity in the Vaughan catchment area.
Central LHIN's Vision for Hospital Services in Vaughan report captures the work done to date for Vaughan hospital services planning - including the 2008 Central LHIN study Service Needs Assessment for the Identification of Vaughan Hospital Services - and will be a valuable resource going forward as planning continues under the guidance of York Central Hospital, which has been given a significant planning grant from the Ministry.
