Ministry-LHIN Accountability Agreement - updated October 14, 2009

The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and the Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs) are each responsible for developing and fulfilling clear and achievable performance obligations, and to identify any risks to performance. Both parties are committed to work collaboratively, by establishing clear lines of communication and responsibility, and by working diligently to resolve issues in a proactive and timely manner.

In support of these objectives, the Ministry and the LHINs developed the first Ministry-LHIN Accountability Agreement (MLAA), which came into effect on April 1, 2007. The MLAA consists of a primary agreement, and schedules that outline further details on performance expectations. Find out more by reading this MLAA Executive Overview in English or French.

Annual Service Plans

Under the MLAA, LHINs are also required to develop annual business plans that outline how they will oeprationalize their strategies and meet their MLAA targets each year. Central LHIN's annual business plan is aligned with Ministry priorities, as well as our LHIN's Integrated Health Service Plan.  View Central LHIN's 2009-10 Annual Business Plan (English) or 2009-10 Annual Business Plan (French).

Health Service Provider Accountability Agreements

As health system planners, part of Central LHIN's role is to work with local health service providers to develop a framework for accountability that encourages transparency and ensures the best possible quality of care is available to all residents in the Central LHIN region.

The accountability agreements below outline the responsibilities of local health service providers and the LHIN, set activity and financial targets, detail expectations for ongoing development and service delivery and provide benchmarks so that providers and the LHIN can measure performance year over year.
