Value of LHINs
LHINs are the only organizations in Ontario that bring together health care partners from sectors such as hospitals, community care, community support services, community mental health and addictions, community health centres and long-term care to develop innovative, collaborative solutions leading to more timely access to high-quality services for the residents of Ontario and Central LHIN communities.
By supporting these important partnerships, LHINs work to enable Ontarians to have access to an effective and efficient health care system that delivers improved health care results and a better patient experience.
Central LHIN Presents to the Standing Committee on Social Policy
The Ontario Legislature’s Standing Committee on Social Policy began its review of the Local Health System Integration Act, 2006 (LHSIA) on November 18, 2013. This legislation governs LHINs, and the review is a legislated requirement of the act. At Central LHIN, we have been looking forward to this review as a way to highlight our local success stories, and on Monday, March 3, 2014, Kim Baker – Central LHIN’s CEO – was invited to appear before the Standing Committee on Social Policy at Queen’s Park. Together with the CEOs of Central West LHIN, Mississauga Halton LHIN and Central East LHIN, they provided the Committee with a fulsome overview of how LHINs are making a difference in Ontario. Read Ms. Baker’s remarks here.
